There she stood in all her glory,
To not have her beauty one has to be sorry.
She had the world’s beauty imbibed in her,
And ‘twas so good it would never wither.
She had the looks everyone wanted,
But sadly their wishes were never granted.
She had the always desired “Dainty Feet”
To marry her men stood in many a fleet.
But no one could satisfy her rich merchant of a dad,
He could never find “The Perfect Lad”.
He wanted the most appropriate heir to his wealth,
But before doing so he slept forever thanks to his health.
She was a fine lass, never proud of her beauty,
But her father’s heir would get a lot of booty.
That caught the eye of a certain ambitious man,
To get the booty he hatched a plan.
He planned to get a spot in her love spot,
Then he went off on a trot.
He wanted to became the girl’s Prince Charming,
But his looks themselves were alarming.
But his heart was beautiful, or so she thought,
Totally oblivious of the fellow’s plot.
She fell for his trick, and regretted doing the same,
The man was basking in his notorious fame.
He enjoyed the money until it was all over,
The girl regretted everyday for making him her lover.
They were starving and without shelter,
The girl knew she could’ve lived so much better.
But ‘twas way too late for that,
On the pavement they lay flat.
The man was not skilled for any trade,
Their life force began to fade.
She made a decision to live,
Even if her husband wouldn’t give.
She decided to work for a cent a day,
She worked hard, though very low was her pay.
It was her only means of silver,
Else they would have to shiver.
They could only afford a plastic tent,
Better still, they never had to pay rent.
They slowly started living a dignified life,
The man was forever indebted to his wife.
He regretted ever cheating her and bringing her to the street,
He got enough money to shine the garment of men’s feet.
They lived a normal life now, thanks to the girl,
Their lives had faced and come through many a whirl.
They were happy with each others company,
The man had to live under tyranny.
They continue to live in the same tent,
Their children, to school they sent.
One became a clerk in an office and another a nurse,
With enough to feed their children in their purse.
