Strive

The clouds hovered high,
And blackened the sky.
As the day turned dark,
Ruined was a day in the park.
The hovered ominously,
On a day I approached optimistically.
Life too seemed bright and joyful,
Then the light walked out and made it awful.
I gazed at the clouds as they seemed to descend,
As dispersible as those friends who pretend.
Then the rain began to lash with a fury,
The rain gods seemed to be in a hurry.
The rain pattered against my face,
Then I stopped to do my lace.
I noticed the empty roads,
And those misleading sign boards.
In the darkness, I looked for the light,
Some motivation to continue to fight.
But it was nowhere to be found,
I looked everywhere as I wandered around.
Suddenly, I saw a light in the distance,
A car! I hoped would see my presence.
But the rain was too harsh,
My hope turned to a farce.
I walked, sulking and wet,
I didn’t know if it was tears or sweat.
Life is like a walk in the rain,
None cares if you’re fine or in pain.
It’s your life, you decide what to do,
Quit or walk all the way through.
Become a victim of circumstance,
Or be bold and take a firm stance.
Quitters, will not be remembered for sure,
Conquerors will be remember forever more.
Decide which category you prefer,
Then you’ll know from the others, how you differ.
I had chosen,
I decided to go on,
To do my best in everything I do,
Because I’ve one life and it doesn’t last long.
